狩野川野鮎
天城越えの天城峠から流れ出る狩野川。
その清らな流れの中で、鮎は川底の大きな石や岩に着く珪藻類・水藻を食べながら育つ。その鮎を野鮎と呼び、また、海から遡上してきた鮎を天然鮎と呼ぶ。

Wild sweetfish in KANOGAWA
The Kano River, flowing from Amagi Pass on the Amagi-goe route.
In those clear waters, the Ayu (sweetfish) grow by feeding on diatoms and aquatic algae attached to the large stones and rocks on the riverbed. These fish are referred to as no-ayu (wild ayu), while those that have migrated upstream from the sea are called tennen-ayu (naturally spawned ayu).
